Young people get weight loss help
The university experts have joined forces with Newark and Sherwood District Council and health officials.
The 12-week weight management scheme, known as the Carnegie clubs, is starting in the Newark area.
Youngsters will be encouraged to take part in a range of physical activities and learn about healthier lifestyles.
Weekly sessions
The Leeds Metropolitan University researchers have developed an understanding of the key components needed to treat childhood obesity.
They run the Carnegie Weight Management Programme, a residential summer weight loss camp.
The Nottinghamshire sessions will begin on Saturday afternoons at the Grove Leisure Centre in Balderton starting on 29 April.
Parents will also be offered advice on how to help their children.
